5 DIY Shower Curtains Great for Beginning Sewers and Crafters

Let’s be honest here. I am LAZY crafter. I only like projects that I can start and finish within the same day, preferably within the same hour. I have seen lots of really beautiful ruffled or embroidered DIY shower curtains that I would love to have on display in my home, but that’s not realistic because I don’t have that kind of time or energy. However, I have found plenty of options out there for the beginning sewer or crafter. These are ideas that ANYONE (me!) can do.

1. DIY Striped Shower Curtain from Fabric

This concept is so easy! This blogger sewed together heavy home decor fabric cut to the right size to create a simple and inexpensive shower curtain.

2. DIY Flat Sheet Shower Curtain with Grommets

3. DIY Chevron Shower Curtain

This blogger used a plain shower curtain, painters tape and fabric paint to create the super cute chevron shower curtain. You can use the same concept and tools to create any pattern you want on your own shower curtain.

4. DIY Monogram Shower Curtain

When I first saw this curtain I figured they must have made a fancy stencil using a Silhouette or some other machine that not everyone has. BUT they actually made a simple stencil by making a design on their computer and tracing it onto freezer paper and cutting out their design. If you haven’t used freezer paper you are missing out. You can iron it onto fabric and you have a super easy and inexpensive customized stencil. Fill it in with fabric paint. The curtain itself is on old muslin sheed with a strip of black fabric sewn onto the bottom.

5. DIY Color-Block Shower Curtain

I love this idea. It’s so pretty and so customizable. You can take fabric of any colors you choose and sew them together to create the perfect shower curtain for your bathroom.

What do you think? Are you going to utilize one of these fabulous ideas and put a new shower curtain on display in your home?

They look pretty easy if you have a sewing machine. One question-how do you make the slits for the curtain rings? Do you have to cut and sew each one? Or can you cut it and use fabric tape. How can you measure the size and distance of the slits? I guess that was more than one question!

Rather than be limited to a standard size, I like my shower curtain to go from floor to ceiling and have found that rectangle table cloths also make great shower curtains … And are sometimes cheaper than fabric. Plus, the desgns ate fantastic! I buy 2, hem a sleeve in the top and then tie them back on both sides. Looks very sophisticated.
